胴部の左右に施された非常に緻密な籐の編みこみの装飾が特徴的なこの作品「壺型花籃」は、唐物様式の大型で堂々とした風格が特徴です。唐物様式の作品の多くは、その雛形が中国の青銅器にありますが、青銅器の左右対称なフォルムの正確さや硬質さまでもが再現された竹工芸の逸品となっています。

A large karamono (Chinese-style) piece, Flower basket is distinguished by its bold execution and decorations on either side pleated with high precision in rattan. While many works in the karamono style are modeled on ancient Chinese bronze vessels, this superb work recreates not only the bronze vessel’s precise symmetrical form but even its hardness.
